21 Aug Brown Marmorated Stink Bugs (BMSB) Season 2023/2024: Australia
The Australian Department of Agriculture and Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) have now updated their guidelines and instructions covering mandatory pre-shipment fumigation requirements to protect against BMSB over the 2023/2024 high-risk season.
These measures will come into effect on 1st September 2023 (date of shipment from origin port) until 30th April 2024 and cover all imports to Australia.
BMSB seasonal measures will apply to targeted goods manufactured in or shipped from target risk countries, and to vessels that berth, load, or tranship from target risk countries within the same period.
The shipped-on board date, as indicated on the Ocean Bill of lading, is the date used to determine when goods have been shipped. “Gate in” dates and times will not be accepted to determine when goods are shipped.
The below links provide relevant information, fact sheets, target risk countries, target goods, measures for vessels and BMSB treatment types and rates.
We would encourage all our clients moving ‘target high risk’ goods to familiarise themselves with the DAFF guidelines, and to ensure their suppliers comply with any offshore mandatory treatment conditions before the September 1st deadline.
