07 Feb CEPA signifies amplified trade opportunities for South Australia and UAE
The South Australian Minister for Trade is leading a delegation to Dubai to leverage Australia’s free trade agreement with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and increase air freight capacity between the two nations.
Both nations signed the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) which takes effect mid-2025 and eliminates tariffs on more than 99% of Australian exports to the UAE.
The CEPA, in conjunction with the resumption of daily Emirate flights between Adelaide and Dubai since late 2024 has seen 200+ tonnes of weekly direct air freight capacity unlocked.
This, alongside the fact that the UAE has now surpassed Singapore as a key destination for South Australian exports, worth $254 million annually, makes it an opportune time to explore opportunities for South Australian businesses as the CEPA comes into fruition.
