05 Aug Inland rail project to enhance national supply chain
The Inland Rail project, which is a 1600km freight rail line connecting Melbourne and Brisbane via regional Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, is currently underway, with completion due by 2027.
Consisting of 12 sections, Inland Rail involves a combination of upgrades and improvements with the objective of supporting Australia’s increasing freight needs as well as improving road safety and decreasing emissions via the removal of a significant amount of trucks off the roads.
At a macro level, this substantial infrastructure project will enhance Australia’s national freight and supply chain capabilities, connecting existing freight routes through rail, roads and ports, supporting Australia’s overall economic growth.
