29 Sep Los Angeles Harbour Commission approves US$52 million improvement project
The Los Angeles (LA) Harbour Commission has approved a lease amendment, solidifying plans for a US$52 million infrastructure improvement project that aims to boost cargo handling capacity and operational efficiency while promoting sustainability at the port.
Five new loading and unloading tracks will be added, which will enable more cargo to be directly loaded onto trains within the terminal, leveraging rail as the most energy and fuel-efficient mode of long-haul freight transport in the USA as fewer cargo transfers will result in more streamlined operations and help enhance the competitiveness of the LA harbour.
