MUA continues industrial action at QUBE ports

The Maritime Union of Australia (MUA) has notified Qube Ports of further protected industrial action for participating members at the Port of Brisbane in response to stalled negotiations amid the expiration of the last employment agreement.

The industrial action will involve a total of 168 consecutive hours of work stoppages by Qube employees in Brisbane, which commenced as of 8th January 2025 and will span a period of seven days.

Shipping Australia (SA) has urged the Government to intervene in the ongoing industrial action, warning that it will begin to severely impact the Australian economy. This call from Shipping Australia comes at the same time as The Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) has also raised concerns, stating that these strikes are disrupting critical import, export, and domestic supply chains.
