New trade system to future proof New Zealand exports

New Zealand is rolling out a modernised trade certification system to enhance the reliability and adaptability of its export processes, with particular benefits for the wine industry under the recent European Union Free Trade Agreement.

The new system is being implemented in phases, starting with wine certification, followed by certifications for plant and animal products, including dairy, in the coming year.

This upgrade replaces six outdated legacy systems, streamlining the certification process into a single, integrated, digital platform. As a result, exporters will dually benefit from a more efficient process and gain access to advantages under the EU Free Trade Agreement that were not available with the previous certification system, helping to future proof New Zealand’s export industries.
