15 Dec Uk Alcohol Duty Hike Postponed
The British Parliament has confirmed that there will not be a second increase in alcohol duty tax this year by announcing a freeze until August 2024.
This announcement has been welcomed by wine and spirit businesses across the UK, which have strongly protested against a second alcohol duty rise in the space of four months as the introduction of an entirely new alcohol tax regime and a substantial hike in August has already resulted in a decline in sales and revenue.
Furthermore, this freeze will help to drive industry growth, support jobs and not further burden consumers at a time when household budgets are already stretched.
