A shipping container scam in Western Australia has resulted in $375,000 in losses. With containers currently in high demand, scammers have moved quickly to promote numerous fake websites via social media offering containers at low prices.
Requesting online payment the victims are sent an invoice for a direct debit payment for a container that is never delivered. With the number of escalating reports and losses, and some legitimate operators having had their identities stolen as part of this scam, it truly is a case of buyer beware.
